OP: Sleeping Dragons
[DISCLAIMER: ALL OF THIS IS FICTITIOUS INFORMATION, AND PART OF AN ORIGINAL STORY LINE THAT WAS USED TO BUILD THIS OPERATION EVENT AROUND. NONE OF IT IS REAL!]
The Background:
On January 3rd, 2010, the Central Intelligence Agency released information within it's ranks that an outstanding member of the Armed Forces has been showing signs of being corrupt. Throughout the rest of the year, several phone conversations were transcribed leading up to the final days before Sleeping Dragons occurred. Within the last phone transmission, the leader of the SOCTU (Special Operation Counter Terrorist Units) forces revealed his crimes, and alerted the selling faction that he would be sending in a team of operatives the day before the weapon drop to make sure that they didn't sell four briefcase sized nukes he'd been trying to get his hands on, to another buyer.
"What if they fail?" he was asked.
"They're disposable. All of them."
Just as predicted by the 'informant', the SOCTU team they'd sent in comprised of Rithwald, Lilith, Serra, Stock, Heffries, Glome, and a few others that have been kept classified, were taken captive. During the firefight, the two unnamed operators were killed. A rescue attempt was mounted by SOCTU CO, but his main focus was obviously the Sleeping Dragons.
While captive, Lobomalo leader "Recon" fed the Captive team information on what their true objective was. They weren't the terrorists they'd allowed themselves to be perceived as. He provided the Captive squad leader with the phone conversation transcripts. Upon seeing the line in the conversation, and having been told they would be given a full presidential pardon for crimes they have committed without their knowledge, they decided to join forces. Under cover of a fake firefight, SOCTU Captive escaped and gathered their gear, to finally meet up with SOCTU CO and try and maintain his trust.
Throughout the night, transports sent in reinforcements and food. A mis-communication with HQ however caused for an air strike to be dropped right over the rations transport. Some of the rations survived the blast, and SOCTU managed to gather their rations within the first hours of darkness, and bring it back to base, only to be attacked by Lobomalo forces and their rations taken from them.
No matter how hard they tried, SOCTU could not find the dragons. Instead, once drop time occurred, SOCTU CO was forced to attend the drop. Going in with only his trusted body guard, and sniper cover, he alerted the rest of the team to move in on his mark. CIA was smart enough to jam all transmissions, and upon the arrest attempt, SOCTU CO fled.
Finally, revealing their identity as the CIA, they stormed the SOCTU Forward Operating Base, and with the help of the Captive team, put them all under arrest, giving them the ultimatum of death, jail time, or full pardon for helping them track and get their CO dead or alive. The original arrest only objective was no longer valid as he proved too high a threat.
The manhunt ensued, and the CIA / SOCTU Joint forces tracked down the commanding officer in little time. During a heavy firefight, the CO was shot, and his three trusted soldiers were killed. When medics tried to patch his wounds up, it was too late, and the damage was far too extensive. The threat had been neutralized.
Now, members of the Special Operations Counter Terrorist Units have been given a full presidential pardon, and the deep cover CIA team has returned home.

Reviews By Players:
"Most epic night of airsoft I have evered played."
-CPL McCaughey "...easily one of the best ops ive been too." -TaylorDesi "This game was amazing on many levels. [...] Sleeping Dragon was an op at that next level, at least for my squad, with all the secrecy involved. I would say we spent half the match in a paranoid state. We were afraid to engage anyone. Afraid to give challenges. It was hard to even talk about what we needed to discuss without someone showing up on the small field." -Rithwald "Overall the op was excellent fun. For a first op Firebrand couldn't have taken on a much more challenging scenario and, all things considered, he and his team did a top job of keeping things going." -Toast "This was one hell of an experience" -manditorian "So this OP can be described as one of those where there are few firefights but the intensity is kicked up a notch because of it. Not being able to see your own hand waving in front of your face really adds another dimension to the game" -UrbanCohort |
